Samsung Impression Review

Samsung has finally launched the newest mobile, The Samsung Impression, into the markets recently. The mobile is supposed to be one of the finer mobiles that Samsung has released off late. Let us have a look into the details of this mobile and find out whether this phone will be the next smart phone of the year or will it be another miss. Speaking of the display first, this mobile claims its unique properties of having AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode). For all those who are not acquainted with this term, this means that the mobile will produce one of the finest displays ever and will be able to give one of the brightest and finest colored display. The 3.2 inch wide TFT touch screen offers 256K color support with the resolution of 240 X 400 pixels. Now this signifies the display of Samsung Impression which is of top notch quality.

However, apart from the display, design could have had been made better. With a dimension of 114 x 58 x 15 mm and a weight of 150 grams, this mobile may seem bulky a bit. It is a slider based mobile with full QWERTY keyboard along with it. The keypads are normal and they function well. No problems are found there. The mobile comes in two colors: Black and Blue. Now coming into features of this mobile, it has got HSDPA with a speed of 3.6 Mbps, a full GPRS enabled into it, EDGE, Bluetooth version 2.0 with A2DP, WAP enabled high speed browser, GPS and much more. So basically it offers a wide range of features that are must haves in any smart phones nowadays.

samsung-impression

Coming into the battery life of Samsung Impression, this is the place where some users might get disappointment. The talk time of this mobile is only about 3 hours and the standby time is about 250 hours which equals to about more than 10 days. Now this is what makes this product lose its value. The battery life is way down underperforming as compared to the other mobiles and will need greater amount of charging everyday. So for those who are willing to go for a good set with good battery life, I doubt that Samsung Impression is not for you.

However, another great feature of this set is its 3MP camera which will give you the best quality pictures every time. It also has flash enabled in it and loads of features with camera are there in the mobile. Apart from this, the mobile also has a great MP3 player that gives you great sound, decent MPEG4/3gp player and also comes in with a photo and a video editor. Thus, to sum up, Samsung Impression is no doubt one of the better phones around with high quality features in it and great display as well, but it is only the battery life which can spoil your mood. Samsung Impression gets 7.5/10 from my side. A great quality mobile from Samsung.

Okay, this may not be the right website to do this at but I am having a great dilema between this! I have a twelve year old son and his birthday is coming up! he texts alot I have decided that the right phone for him is a samsung phone. so here are my two choices: samsung impression or the samsung eternity! And I was wondering if the samsung impression has an iphone look other than the keyboard. So please help me get my son the best birthday present ever!

  2. Lazlo on June 3rd, 2009 at 2:22 pm

Bill, from what I’ve seen the Eternity & Impression are virtually identical. The only big difference being that the Impression has the full qwerty keyboard (which is perfect for texting). I was contemplating both and I decided to go with the Impression as it’s a little newer and has the full keyboard.

On the at&t website the samsung impression has a nasty green color? Is that what the actual phone looks like?
When i was at the samsung store i saw a black one which i completely fell in love with. But it is no where to be found. Do you know why? Thanks in advance!

  4. georgina on June 22nd, 2009 at 8:51 am

the samsung impression is actually a metallic navy blue. it looks a little bit black though. keep in mind though that things on your computer may not be the exact color the really are

Well, I’m getting a Samsung Impression in about a week. I just ordered it from Amazon. I have a friend who has the phone and let me tell you-its awesome. It really does impress. The phones screen is gorgeous. I’ve never seen such a rich, clear vivid screen on a mobile device…ever! The qwerty keyboard is really good. And the phone gives you about 4 ways to input text. The browser is quick and the rendering of sites are decent.. But the navigation could use a bit more work. Like it was mentioned in the review, the battery life really sucks, so most people would be advised to bring a charger or a spare battery with them around, especially if your a heavy internet, video, or messaging fiend. The camera is clear and precise. The navigation is quick, smooth, and works great. The Impression’s hardware design could have been a little slimmer, and lighter, but it does work, and it’s not annoyingly bulky, so you’ll be able to deal. The phones cellular video is great, it also plays video, but if you get the phone I would advise you get some accessories. If your going to use the phone as an intense multimedia device, then you can buy a bundle from online stores like Ebay, and amazon for like 20 bucks at the most- (headset/adapter, memory card 4GB+, holster, snap on case, and a car charger)

Besides some small draw backs (BATTERY, size, lock/unlock button) the phone is spectacular. And because its not technically a smart phone, you’ll save about 20 bucks a month on the unlimited messaging and data plan which is 30 bucks compared to that of smartphones on att which is 50 bucks. So get the Samsung Impression, it really will pass your expectations and that I guarantee…

people always complain about bulk phones but i think this is a postive feature. The samsung impression is not to light or to heavy.I hate phones that are really light. It feels like you can snap them in have of if you drop it, it will break easily.

I love my samsung impression but the battery is killing me. I would let my phone charge all night, I’ll turn it on at about 11am and by 5pm it’s already dying. Is there a better battery that I can buy that has a longer life?? Please help me!!

  10. Ron on August 11th, 2009 at 12:40 pm

I bought the Samsung Impression A877 3 days ago, so my experiences are still limited. I’ll post again as I learn more.

I was weighing the Impression A877 vs. an Apple iPhone, and my comments here are based on iPhone features. My fiancee has an iPhone, so I’m comparing the features I like on her phone to the Impression. Also, I use my phone mainly as a productivity tool. The camera etc. are nice bells and whistles, but not a big deal for me.

    Positives:
Price: I bought my Impression at Fry’s on a 2-year AT&T contract, for $49. Good deal!
Keyboard: I bought the Impression mainly because I really don’t like the iPhone’s virtual keyboard and wanted the large tactile QWERTY slider keyboard.
Dataplan: I pay $10 monthly for AT&T dataplan on Impression, the iPhone has a $30 monthly dataplan
Expandable memory: I can add 8GB microSD card. Since I have a large MP3 collection- about 40GB worth- this lets me keep my music on a collection of microSDs and have them all availalbe. iPhone limits me to 8GB or 16GB with no expandability.

    Negatives;
BIGGEST negative: No access to corporate email server!!! I specifically asked about this at Frys before I bought the phone, and was told I could access my corporate email server. Cannot be done from the Impression! No POP/IMAP access. iPhone has this. Had I known – I might have gone to a Blackberry. Big, big sucking point if you use your phone for work.

Another email gripe – only certain email services are supported. I have a Yahoo and Gmail account. I can get my Yahoo mail, but Gmail is not supported. I can only see gmail messages through the WAP browser.

Maps. iPhone has really good integrated map support with GPS. Very easy to enter start/end locations and plot your route while driving, with turn by turn instructions. Even though AT&T offers a $10 mapping service, I would never bother with iPhone since the built in app is great.
Impression: has a GPS, but no built in mapping. There is a free Google maps app which I installed. It works, but is much clunkier and harder to use than iPhone’s. I doubt I’ll use it very much.

QWERTY keyboard: I might get used to this, but I’m finding the top row of buttons is very hard to use. It’s flush with the case of the phone. Every time I reach for the top row, my fingers keep bumping into the case, and it leads to mistyping. Not as bad as on iPhone virtual screen, but still disappointing.

WIFI: iPhone has built in WIFI, which is better than AT&T’s 3G network. I often find 3G fades out, even in places like my office conference room. WIFI is really useful for a smart phone.
Impression – nope. It has bluetooth, but no WIFI.

Hey i like this phone but i dont know if its out here im from the uk and not really sure do you know how much it is? or if you can have it on pay as you go, could you let me know thanks

  12. Mike on August 20th, 2009 at 10:09 am

I’m on my 3rd Impression, and let me tell you, I am not impressed at all. The first one i returned because it seems that the keys on the left side of the keyboard don’t register unless you press down REALLY hard on them. i type a lot faster than this things ability to register the keys. the right side works fine, i thought maybe i just wasnt applying enough pressure with my left hand but it still did it. i took it back and got #2, same problem with the keyboard and about 5 weeks after I got it, it completely freaked out and when you tried to open any apps, it would do nothing. AT&T was leary about swapping it out till i told them this was the 2nd one i’d had in 6 weeks. They gave me the 3rd one and it’s not any better than the first 2. Also, I show full 3G strength and i still constantly get errors with the browser saying request timed out. Also, unlinke the iphone, there is no home button so you have to close the browser to get to the home screen (or at least i can’t find a way to do it). after sending a certain amount of text messages, it just says sending and you have to reboot the phone and go to the outbox and retry it.

I replaced an HTC (cingular) 8125, i should have stayed with an HTC phone. The only reason i didn’t keep the 3 year old 8125 is a broke the charging usb port.

  13. Mike on August 20th, 2009 at 10:12 am

also, if you ever look at a blackberry, the side have a rubber like strip so you can grip it pretty well, the impression has very slick sides and it’s like trying to hold a greased pig some days.

  14. Tara on September 1st, 2009 at 12:26 pm

help me! i dont know if i should get the impression, eternity, or solstice…. I TEXT ALLLLLOOOOTTT, and am afraid that the touch screens will not be for me. Any ideas?

  15. Impression Owner on September 11th, 2009 at 6:55 am

I have this phone and do like it tons… I don’t want to pay for XM radio and I have unlimited data plan; want an online radio to listen to music but “pandora” and a few other free mobile music sites don’t support the impression….

Does anyone know of a website you can listen to streaming music on the Samsung Impression?

    [FREE of course ;) ]

    Thank you,

    SI fan

  16. Casey on September 12th, 2009 at 3:07 pm

is the keyboard easy to use? and do the keys registrar when you push them, or do you really have to push them?

  17. Deanna on September 15th, 2009 at 6:24 pm

Help! I replaced my phone with the Impression and the salesman hastily rushed me out of there. No help, no explanation of how to use it. All I want to know for right now is how I recharge the battery. There was no instruction manual in the box, the website is incomplete and I need to use my phone. Seriously, I need assistance. Thanks!

  18. Kaylee on September 16th, 2009 at 10:37 am

I agree with Mike, I love the phone but the more you get used to it, it’s as if they didn’t fix all the bugs. I had no idea that it was because I sent a certain number of texts that I’d have to reboot it but mine does the EXACT same thing, I don’t text that much but still, I have to reboot it CONSTANTLY. Another thing I noticed was when you try to add birthdays so you can use the widget, you might as well just punch yourself in face and not even start, it’ll be the same experience, it’s just a headache. You can tell that it’s something thats wrong with the phone, if you try to enter the birthdate into the scroll thinger and then save it, it ruins the birthdate you saved, theres a trick to it ex: enter 10/23/1983 and hit save and it will say the birthday is either 11/24/1984 or 09/22/1982, very irritating so you have to enter the birthdate to the wrong date so it fixes it. But you wonder why you even went through the hassle anyways because the birthday widget feature, takes you to your contact list!!! That’s IS the birthday feature, you go to you contact list and click on the person you want and it tells you their birthday when you could do that on your own by just going to your contact list, REDICULOUS!!! Another thing it keeps doing is freezing up for no good reason, won’t move at all, can’t hold the off button, have to take the battery out, another thing it does is freeze just in one program, I mean it will do everything in the program/application you’re in but it wont exit the application/program but you can atleast turn off the phone. Other than all these problems, it’s an amazing phone, but I’m just irritated because I’ve never came across a phone with defects, and this one has a bunch but it’s such a great phone, those defects and the lack of good games that you can play longer than 1 minute is what upsets me, but I’m eligible for a new phone in 11 months so I’ll just tough it out

I’ve had this phone for a little over a week i text all day long and browse the web, I LOVE THIS PHONe i had a blackberry previously and like the Impression alot better, the battery does die quite quickly but come on what phone lastes ALL day when u text and surf the web most of the time? the one thing i dont like is the pictures, the camera seems to not have a steady focus and the picture comes out blurry unless u have a hand that dont shake at all…

I just got the samsung impression & it ROCKS THE SOCKs any who likes txting GET IT

  23. Miko on November 2nd, 2009 at 8:37 pm

My phone does not last anywhere near 10 days. As a matter of fact, it barely even last a day and a half. It may be because I’m always texting, but does anyone else have this problem? I’m not saying that I dislike the phone, because I’m actually in love with it, but I hate how Samsung got my hopes up about the battery life DDD:

  24. christina on November 5th, 2009 at 2:16 am

i agree with mike, i’m also on my 3rd impression, and i can’t stand it. it seems to work good for the first week–then the keyboard gets sluggish, for someone who types fast the response isn’t quick enough, the texts won’t send and i reboot my phone at least 3 times a day, and my keyboard will even freeze and the only thing that will work sometimes is the touchscreen itself. so i’ll have to remove the battery just to fix it. also; like mike said with the browser, you have to close it out. and another thing that sucks is you can’t view or reply to texts while you’re on the phone. i’ve never had a cell phone that has done that before. it’s really annoying and such a pain in the ass considering i wanted this phone so badly i paid the full price for it because my phone wasn’t due for an upgrade. so not worth the 400 bucks .. its been 3 months and im already going to buy another phone this month because i’m finally due for an upgrade. wasted money, don’t bother. don’t let the look of it fool you.

  25. christina on November 5th, 2009 at 2:20 am

actually–the screen on this phone is legit, and the touchscreen works really good–if they fixed all the damn glitches and this phone actually worked to it’s full potential, it’d be worth it. but with all the bugs–forget it. might as well wait till they figure it out. just had to add that. LOL.

  26. lexi on November 18th, 2009 at 6:18 pm

i have the black berry and i was wondering if this would be a better phone, i text like crazy and i want to know if the impression is better than the eternity?

Just got the phone and can’t figure out how to view/edit my contacts via my pc – when they uploaded my contact they duplicated/triplicated them and separated them. I have the PC Studio – but can’t seen to find the Contacts section. I’ll hate this phone if I can’t manage my contacts on the PC. HELP Please…

hey im about to get the samsung impression tomorrow. if my mother lets me im a very young teen. i love this phone i spent hours in the store looking at this phone it is so remarkable. so i either need to get this or the pantech impact which has an ev1,2,3 look and style to it. HELP!!! the only thing i need to know is the battery life on this>

    THANKS

  29. ratty on November 29th, 2009 at 9:28 pm

question… i’ve read about problems with ‘locked pictures’… what does that mean? i hope it doesn’t relate to the background/wallpaper pics that i see in every example of the phone, like the bridge picture… i like to change the background/wallpaper pic to my own pic, is that possible? i’ve never seen it NOT possible on a phone, but who knows. thanks.

  30. Kevin L on December 2nd, 2009 at 12:17 am

I got a chance to test out this phone 2 weeks ago. I am not that big on Samsung usually but this is a powerful unit. Has LOTS of bells and whistles to keep you busy. Cool phone. My friends likes it but not really for me.

WiFi is also important and will be more and more soon but apparently missing on this phone :(

  31. rachel on December 4th, 2009 at 8:53 pm

Everyone keeps comparing this phone to an iphone, but really this phone neither any phone should be compared to an iphone. My mom has one and I could never say a samsung impression is better than that. Anyways, I been looking at reviews for like 5 days and I’m going to get a samsung impression. I have a blackberry bold now. But I’m 15 I need something for more my age. :)

  32. Roy on December 15th, 2009 at 11:25 pm

Re Contacts, like Dannielle, I can’t get PC Studio to manage contacts. I’ve tried to save contacts as csv file to the SIM as well as to the SD card, but the phone doesn’t recognize the file type. One work around is that I installed the gmail app (by going to http://www.gmail.com website and entering username and pw and lettting gmail offer to downlaod their mobile app to the phone, which I did and works fine – other than you need to click “refresh” even when you first sign on). I then use contacts via gmail account (which works fine other than can’t get “groups” to work), but then it’s not one click to call.

  36. Charlie on January 2nd, 2010 at 1:16 pm

This phone is somewhat OK… Im on my second one now. First one had the front touch screen go out. When I tried to switch to the new one, I cant figure out how to save my contacts to the SIM card. But other things about the phone… The web browser is really nice. Texting is easy, if you type slow enough. The space button is one pad, but two clicky thingies underneath, so it registers a double space all the time. That gets annoying. You cant change the screensaver, your stuck with flowers and bridges. When you leave your phone on for a while, it stops sending texts randomly, and won’t make calls either. Gotta reboot all the time. The rest is OK though. Its a nice size and weight. And I like the fact that all Samsungs use the same charger.

But does anyone know how to move the contacts to your SIM? That would be greatly appreciated info.

  37. Kassie on January 9th, 2010 at 9:09 pm

Does anyone know how to be on a call and see text messages at the same time???
i just got this phone today and its been wonderful…the only thing is, is that it is sometimes very slippery like some of you had said, and i also have this dilema about how to text and be on a call…well if someone would be kind of enough to tell me how i would be very thankful!!

  38. Holly on January 11th, 2010 at 4:35 pm

hey :) so im Holly and my boyfriend had just got the Samsung Impression. i was SO jealous when i saw it! i want it so bad. but im really worried about all the bad reviews. :( i’ve heard it freezes and i HATE that. right now i have the LG Vu which is all touch screen. so i would like a phone with a non-touch screen keybored. ANY SUUGESTIONS ON THIS PHONE? OR ON ANY OTHER PHONE LIKE IT?

  39. laniej on January 12th, 2010 at 10:31 pm

The camera feature on this phone has no flash for starters, and a little annoying glitch where you hold the phone and look at the picture and it automatically flips to a different angle. So you turn the phone to be able to see the picture upright and it does it again. My rep told me this was common to this phone and if enough people griped about it, Samsung will eventually fix it. I am very surprised to find such an expensive phone did not have an automatic flash! Unimpressed. I wouldn’t buy it again.

  40. aj on January 18th, 2010 at 3:52 pm

Hi everyone …. I have just gotten the samsung impression for christmas, and it is one of the best phones i have ever gotten. It has many applications and games. The camera is just great it is as clear as it can be 2.0 mega pixles great phone. The texting is fairly easy without the keyboard touching the screen even though it has a keyboard. the keyboard is just so soft. there really is no problem at all with this phone anyone that wants it and gets it will defenitly love it like i love it.

  44. Yvette on January 26th, 2010 at 9:34 pm

    I found it!!!!
    1 – Go to MENU
2 – Got to Address Book
3 – Bottom of screen go to SIM Management
4- Go to “Copy Contacts to SIM”

    Hope that helps.

  45. Linda on February 16th, 2010 at 1:42 pm

I am so upset about this phone. My keypad totally stopped working after only 6 months and I can NOT get my contacts off my phone. Do NOT get this phone. There is no way to save your contacts to the SIM card as you add them. You have to go into the menu and then the address book and then manage SIM and save it there. I thought my contacts were saved to my SIM all along. They were not and now because of how this crummy phone is made I have lost about 200 contacts!! Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT purchase this phone until they have worked out the bugs. They should have a way for you to use the slide out keyboard to manage your phone if the keypad malfunctions. Thanks, Samsung! (I hope you catch the dripping sarcasm). I will be purchasing a different brand in the future. It is clear you do not give a rip about your customers.

  46. Jen on February 18th, 2010 at 5:39 pm

  48. April on February 19th, 2010 at 12:18 am

I bought this phone a couple of months ago. I loved it!! It is great for texting, and has many other great functions.. The only problem I have now is that, the touchscreen no longer works. It hasnt been wet or dropped. But I have tried everything, but it will not work anymore. Without the touchscreen, I cant get into my messages, menu, setting, nothing. I can call using the keyboard, but there is no alternate function to send or receive text messages or get into my settings, and menu…….And now I cant get an upgrade for another year and a half… So something to think about if you are thinking about buying this one…

  49. Alex on February 23rd, 2010 at 11:12 am

I like the phone, but I am having a BIG problem with it. I text a lot with my phone, and i have started to notice that my fingertips have been dryer than normal, and my skin has become cracked, and it hurts. At first, I thought it was just the cold and dry weather, but then I did some research… I found out about a skin condition called “Cell Phone Dermatitis”. It is caused from cell phones that are made of Free Nickel on their case, and people have too much skin contact to it. If anyone else has had this problem, please let me know. I read that only about 10% of people have this reaction. It is caused from being allergic to Nickel. I didn’t even know I had any allergies until now.

  50. Sherry on February 27th, 2010 at 5:43 pm

My daughter and I both got this phone on the same day. my thinking was she would learn how it works and teach me, teenagers can learn so fast! But neither of us have gotten anywhere. the rebooting drives her crazy and everything else seems to bother me. I’m confused by birthday widget and contacts, the PC Suite I think was someone’s joke. I’ve never known a phone to come without a book but even after getting online and talking to Samsung has gotten me not taught me anything! Would like a frackin ringtone Samsung didn’t supply, thank you! Get a case of some kind for it because this thing is as slippery as the mud covered guy on Family Guy! Not comparing it to any other phone just the basic things I thought any phone would have these days. Oops, time to reboot!

  51. Michele on March 2nd, 2010 at 6:37 am

When I bought my Impression, the sales lady said it was IMPERATIVE that you talk and let the battery COMPLETELY die before you charge the battery for the first time. Apparently the battery has a memory of its very first charge and will only charge to that capacity thereafter.

  52. Jillian on March 2nd, 2010 at 10:03 am

This phone is a piece of crap that needs to be recalled . You have to turn it on and off at least 3 times per day because it doesn’t send messages….NEVER GET THIS PHONE

This is just GREAT….I got the phone for my upgrade, cuz lets face it..my town has absolutely NOTHING in it, just a Wal-Mart..so no great selection there. All this phone does is freeze on me, and I’m on my second one in less than a month! Every time I try to go into my apps or even use the phone or change my ringtone, it freezes and has to reboot itself!! INSANE! I should’ve gotten the Xenon, the keys are alot smaller, but I’ll bet it at least works

I am now on my third Samsung Impression phone. Since August of 2009 I have had three phones. In the beginning the phone was great and then it began to run slow, then periodiacally freeze up until it just stop working all together. The touchscreen phones are nice to have, but are they really worth the headache.

I have this phone and it is a very good phone.

  57. Carl on March 22nd, 2010 at 1:17 pm

I have had the Impression for about around a year (got it when it first came out). Have never had a single problem with it; no freezes or reboots. It is pretty sturdy; I’ve dropped it a few times and it never missed a beat. The battery life is acceptable for talking and texting but surfing the internet will drain it quickly. Easy to transfer music and ringtones from my PC to the phone. If you want to make your own ringtones I don’t recommend “Make-UR-Tones” because it makes no sense to pay for an app like that when there are plenty of free apps that I can use to take a snippet from an mp3 song and use it as a ringtone.

    Things I wish were better:

    1. Better battery life when surfing
    2. Better browser than MediaNet (You can use Opera Mini but it is a pain having to constantly allow “Network Access”).
    3. Screen lock button. I don’t care for the screen lock button but it’s actually easier to use since adding a phone cover as the cover “guides” your finger or thumb directly to it.
    4. Wish there were more apps for the phone. I haven’t found any really useful ones.
    5. Wish it had WiFi

I hate this phone sooo much!!!
I’ve gone through 2 of them
I eventually tried the htc tilt. it was nice. but it had bad glitches too. and it froze All THE TIME like seriously. turn it on use it for 3 seconds. freeze
things i hate about the impression
    1. battery life sucks!!!!!
    2. randomly decides not to send texts (have to reboot like 3 times a day)
    3. No good apps

  59. HK on March 28th, 2010 at 5:52 pm

I love this phone. Yes I need to reboot it at times because it won’t let me text but big deal. Takes a minute. My daughter has the Xenon and likes mine a lot better. No complaints at all

  60. Jeff on April 5th, 2010 at 3:04 pm

I love the phone despite all the texting problems but for some reason my touch screen calibration is so far off that I can’t even go to the menu or contacts. Therefore, I can’t recalibrate it and my phone is pretty much useless…any suggestions? thanks

  63. Steve on May 3rd, 2010 at 11:46 am

My gripe is the way texts are displayed. You can not see aything but the incoming txt. You have to go out of inbox and back to outbox and back and forth to recall the conversation. Am I doing something wrong? Oh yeah, the rebooting is annoying, and I think if most of us gripe to ATT about it, maybe it will get fixxed. Other than those, I love the phone.

Ive had this phone for a few weeks now and my only problem is the lack of flash and wifi. “no att phones that arent more expensive smartphones have wifi though and wifi isnt as big of a deal if your required to pay 30 for a data plan” other then that the freezing problem is easily avoided if your not a packrat who saves all your texts. saving 30-50 or more texts is the cause of any freezing or locking up. delete messages and youll never have a problem. also you can access texts and email while talking on the phone by hitting one of the buttons on the side above the volume button. Im posting this from my impression right now. it really is a great phone, one of the best phones not concidered a smartphone. (smartphones require the 30 data which is the same internet you get for 10 on the impression and it isnt mandatory which is also a plus) o and the xenon is way to small for texting even with my small hands so unless you are young or have very tiny fingers xenons smaller keyboard will be a nightmare

I have my phone three monthes. It has been great but I have noticed the past few weeks the touch screen wasn’t acting right. Tonight while i was texting my sister the touch screen completly quit. It doesn’t work at all. The only thing I can do is use the key pad to make phone calls. I can acess my messages, apps, contact book or anything. so beware.

BTW, does anyone know of a similar forum for the LG GW525 / Calisto? The wife is envious of my newfound cache of phone hacking experts.

Nicely I’ve been addicted to flashing, caused by VZW not seeking us to have entry towards the GPS on our phones. So I observed the threads that tought me to flash my cellphone. Can even cook a little, but you’ll find a lot superior chefs on the market, so I’m happy to toast their operate. I at this time am running Lioryte’s 23529 build with the WinMo 6.5.1 on the Samsung Omnia with VZW. So now I’ve won the Behold 2 from Samsung, been playing with it for a couple of months. We’ve it rooted, I’ve BusyBox on it and aHome UI. looks good, functions very good, but as well very much bloatware. (The Cube and much more) Tried the Galaxy trick, really fast and complete of useable memory. It’s Android one.5 pure. I would rather update the B2, not revert to Galaxy, and assemble from that. I will if that’s the only way, I’ll test new Odins for the B2 and do whatever enable I can to aid the B2 community advance the good quality of this phone.I’m hunting forward to helping make the B2 the best Android phone accessible.

I’ve had my LG Xenon for your final year, but I only recently discovered this web page, Up until now, I never genuinely looked into making use of the mobile phone as anything but a voice and SMS device, but while it was out for repair I had been utilizing a Motorola KRZR like a back-up and I truly hated it. I’m also a former employee of Rogers Wireless, in which I had been a member of the Network Operations group; they are the ones responsible for that inter/intra-site transport, switching and base-station network. Though we by no means got to play with as well a great deal consumer hardware, I do know for a simple fact there is ‘un-branded’ firmware accessible for just about every telephone on the market. Ahead of a carrier decides to carry any mobile phone they get a base design in the manufacturer that they demo and set as a result of tests – finding 1 of these demo units would probably be less complicated mentioned than carried out even so. Most on the time, they just get passed of to good friends or family members members who do not even understand that the mobile phone is unlocked and unbranded.

I got this phone yesterday at bestbuy and so far its good. The only bad thing is that the battery lasts like 3 hours… this really makes me angry because even when the screen is black it drains the battery fast! :( anyone else experiencing this ??

  73. Maggie on August 8th, 2010 at 3:57 pm

    Regan,
about the touchscreen problem: try going into settings and looking for “touchpad calibration” or something like that. I have a touchscreen phone and every few months or so I have to re-calibrate it and it works perfectly again. I’m pretty sure that’s what the problem is. Hope this helps! good luck! :)

ok, i love this phone, i got my first one july ‘09, but the touch screen crapped out, got my new one in december and its worked great, in fact im typing this out right now

now, the battery is only ok, i use it all day for facebook and texting and its almost dead when i go to bed. when the touch screen starts acting up calibrating it(settings-phone-calibration) fixes it, well those are the only gripes i have other than that you cant change the screen saver or the text sound to something other than what they provide

  75. NiCOLE on August 12th, 2010 at 2:53 pm

Ok I loved my phone when I got It but yes after you send a certain amount of messages you have to rebute your phone!! So annoying!! And I would have to rebute it like honestly 5 times a day! Then the buttons would stick and it lags. You will be typing and waiting for what you wrote to come up. My screen would freeze sometimes to. And I read on a different website that after 8 months the touch screen is shot. Basically you can’t use it anymore!! And it was true I have had my phone for a couple days over 8 months and my touch screen does not work at all anymore. I want a different phone now and I would not recomend this phone for anymone so if your thinking about getting the Samsung Impression just change your mind and if you already got it im sorry. I hope your looking forward to getting a new phone in 8 months :)
