AT&T Inc. announced a new AT&T Music application that combines the popular mobile music services such as song and album downloads, streaming radio, song match, lyric search and an enhanced music player into a single, cohesive experience for AT&T mobile phones.

The company said that the service is available first as a download on 3 of AT&T’s most popular quick messaging phones, delivering the tightest integration of mobile music services available to this category of devices.

AT&T intends to enable full song and album downloads via. direct deals with Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music and indie music distributor The Orchard.

The new AT&T Music experience is available today on the LG Xenon, Samsung Solstice and Samsung Impression and the company plans to make the service available as a download on additional handsets soon and would begin preloading the service on devices beginning this summer.

The service is available for $6.99 per month to customers who subscribe to an unlimited data plan. Song and album purchases are charged a la carte, AT&T noted.

Samsung Impression tops low-radiation cellphone list

The Samsung Impression releases the least radiation compared to other cellphones, according to a new study that measured emissions on many current mobile devices.

Some worry about the effects of such radiation, so the nonprofit Environmental Working Group recently released its findings to help “lower your exposure.”

The other top spots for low emission levels went to the Motorola RAZR V8 on CellularONE’s network, T-Mobile’s Samsung SGH-t229, and the Samsung Rugby and Propel Pro, which are both on AT&T. Their radiation readings ranged from 0.14 to 0.47 W/kg. (That unit, watts per kilogram, measures the amount of radio frequency energy that the body absorbs.)

The government limit for devices designed to be held to your head is 1.6 W/kg. Every phone in this test passed that standard. Canada has the same emissions cap, while Europe allows for phones with 2.0 W/kg.

Many of America’s more popular phones occupied lower rungs on Environmental Working Group’s chart. Apple’s iPhone 3GS received 0.52 to 1.19 W/kg. The Palm Pre has a 0.92 W/kg. T-Mobile’s G1 got 1.11 W/kg.

If you’ve never heard of the top dog Samsung Impression, it’s an AT&T touch-screen slider that came out this spring and became CNET’s favorite phone from the 2009 CTIA wireless convention. Its radiation reading came in at 0.15 to 0.35 W/kg.

Samsung has finally launched the newest mobile, The Samsung Impression, into the markets recently. The mobile is supposed to be one of the finer mobiles that Samsung has released off late. Let us have a look into the details of this mobile and find out whether this phone will be the next smart phone of the year or will it be another miss. Speaking of the display first, this mobile claims its unique properties of having AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode). For all those who are not acquainted with this term, this means that the mobile will produce one of the finest displays ever and will be able to give one of the brightest and finest colored display. The 3.2 inch wide TFT touch screen offers 256K color support with the resolution of 240 X 400 pixels. Now this signifies the display of Samsung Impression which is of top notch quality.

However, apart from the display, design could have had been made better. With a dimension of 114 x 58 x 15 mm and a weight of 150 grams, this mobile may seem bulky a bit. It is a slider based mobile with full QWERTY keyboard along with it. The keypads are normal and they function well. No problems are found there. The mobile comes in two colors: Black and Blue. Now coming into features of this mobile, it has got HSDPA with a speed of 3.6 Mbps, a full GPRS enabled into it, EDGE, Bluetooth version 2.0 with A2DP, WAP enabled high speed browser, GPS and much more. Coming into the battery life of Samsung Impression, this is the place where some users might get disappointment. The talk time of this mobile is only about 3 hours and the standby time is about 250 hours which equals to about more than 10 days. Now this is what makes this product lose its value. The battery life is way down underperforming as compared to the other mobiles and will need greater amount of charging everyday. So for those who are willing to go for a good set with good battery life, I doubt that Samsung Impression is not for you.

However, another great feature of this set is its 3MP camera which will give you the best quality pictures every time. It also has flash enabled in it and loads of features with camera are there in the mobile. Apart from this, the mobile also has a great MP3 player that gives you great sound, decent MPEG4/3gp player and also comes in with a photo and a video editor. Thus, to sum up, Samsung Impression is no doubt one of the better phones around with high quality features in it and great display as well, but it is only the battery life which can spoil your mood. Samsung Impression gets 7.5/10 from my side. A great quality mobile from Samsung.
